The discharge of crude oil or liquid petroleum into the surroundings causes oil spills. There were also claims that walking over the oil spill caused the soles of shoes to be burnt. Suspecting that the oil spill may be toxic, authorities insisted that the people involved in manual oil spill cleanup should be properly attired to prevent infection. The number of volunteers involved in the oil spill cleanup was limited. These volunteers were provided with overalls, gloves, and goggles to prevent contact with the oil spill sludge. Those engaged in oil spill cleanup process also needed a level two breathing apparatus. This oil spill sludge was suspected of being carcinogenic.
The allegation was ruled out Deputy Premier Paul Lucas. He stated that he did not experience any burning sensation when he walked over the oil and found nothing had happened to his. He is also received criticism from the opposition party for being lethargic to respond to the situation.
This incident throws light on the potential carcinogenic effect of oil spills. Direct skin contact with oil leads to skin irritation. The Gulf oil spill, one of the largest oil spills in the history of petroleum industry, hit the Gulf coast on April 20, 2010. Until then, not much thought was given to an oil spill response plan. The consequences of BP oil spill were far beyond our prediction. As in most cases chemical cleanup measures for oil spills proved to be worse than the spill itself. In this case, Corexit, a chemical dispersant was used to scatter the spilt oil, which resulted in 100 million gallons of oil and water mixture to spread across the ocean. Apart from the severe damage to fishes, shrimps and other aquatic creatures, this oil spill still continues to pose serious eco threats along the Gulf coast.
The Gulf oil spill occurred due to failure in eight different safety systems as reported by BP. They include an improperly sealed borehole, failure in the onboard gas detection system, misinterpretation of pressure tests, a few valve failures in the well, and so on. So, an effective oil spill prevention plan is necessary to avoid such oil tragedies.
If a spill occurs in spite of spill prevention measures, then an efficient oil spill response plan should be in place. This spill response strategy should include measures for containing the spread of oil. The consequences of a spill become more severe if it spreads uncontrollably. Apart from containment, the oil spill response plan should also enable complete removal of spilt oil without posing any threat to the marine ecosystem.

I have always thought there’s only one formula in making money. That is work hard and at the end of each month, you get your paycheck. Growing up in a family of farmers, I have seen what working hard really means. I’ve experienced waking up early in the morning, go to the farm, plant or harvest rice until the sun sets in. That’s always been my training in terms of making money. That was my first money habit – work to earn.
When I was in College, I wanted very much to help my parents pay for my education. I was fortunate to have been granted a full scholarship, so that took care of the tuition. Even then, making money from a far away province, and spending it in the most expensive city in the country is no easy task. It is an uphill battle similar to walking up to a going down escalator. So in my own little way, I also tried to make money by applying as student assistant to one of the universities’ projects. It doesn’t pay much since it is a government project but enough to pay some of my daily expenses and grow my confidence.
After graduating, I immediately started work as a mainframe programmer for a multinational IT company. The offer I got then was around 16,000 pesos which was BIG money then for someone who’s fresh out of college and don’t have much working experience. I worked very hard and was fortunate enough to be promoted almost every year.
As my paycheck increased, my appetite for consumption also increased. I bought a refrigerator, a washing machine, gas stove, shoes, etc, ALL at the same time, EVEN when I didn’t have the money to pay for it. I just used my new credit card! That’s when my debt started to pile up. The “easy” monthly payments never lived up to its promise. No monthly payment was easy, especially when you only have your paycheck to rely on. As my debt seemingly increased every month, I also had to worry about paying my monthly house rental, buying groceries, eating out with friends, and more. There were times I was so out of money I even had to do “cash advance” on my credit card. As some of you might know, you get to pay a hefty “fee” for doing a cash advance. This is on top of the amount of money you actually “advanced”. My already big debt, ballooned even more! I was so ashamed of having to do cash advance, I promised right there and then, I had to pay for my debt no matter what. It was like a having compound interest working against me. I had to learn how money works. I had to figure it out no matter what. I had no choice.
While pondering my huge debt, I tried to look for ways to earn more money. I tried doing some programming projects for friends. I even entered the world of network marketing, tried selling wellness products and failed miserably. I remember that my only “downlines” (a term indicating those you’ve recruited into the business) was my mother, my aunt, and a few of my friends. It was a learning experience. The thing that struck me most, was that my “need” for money, was being transferred to my “clients”, without me being conscious of it. It was hard “selling” something you don’t 100% believe in and it’s even harder when your motivation is “making” more money without necessarily helping other people. I think this mindset barrier is one of the reasons why I was not able to make it work. Everyday, I had to battle with myself. Am I here to really help other people? Or is it just because of the money?
One time, while me and my friends were hanging out at a bookstore, I saw the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. I heard my friend say it’s a great book, so I bought it, took it home and devoured the stories and financial lessons in the book. The book opened my eyes to the world of money I never knew existed before. That’s when I realized that the rich have different sets of money habits from the poor and the middle class. For the first time, it finally made sense why I can’t seem to be making a dent on my credit card debt; why I can’t seem to sell anything at all. Because I had the wrong money habits. I had to learn rich money habits to achieve financial freedom.
After that, it got me excited to learn more about money. First, I signed-up for our company’s savings plan. I started really small. At first, only about 2% of my paycheck is automatically deducted and kept under my savings account. I don’t even get to hold the money. After a month, I increased it to 5%, then to 10%. After a year of saving, I was able to set aside 20% of my paycheck without necessarily scrimping myself too much. That was rich money habit #1 – pay yourself first.
With the savings, I had, I was able to pay my debt slowly buy surely. More than that, it gave me confidence to know that I can do it, with the proper discipline and rich money habit. When the opportunity came for me to be assigned to the US for a 6-month stint in my company, I was able to save even more and pay-off the rest of my credit card debt. That was rich money habit #2 – get out of bad debt as soon as possible!
I also started to take serious notice of the numerous calls I got from insurance agents offering life insurance. Before, I would always make up numerous excuses just to avoid talking to them. But now, I wanted to know more how I can use the different insurance products to protect myself and my family. I also started reading more on business, money, investing and personal finance. After a few years, I managed to save up for an emergency fund. That’s rich money habit #3 – Get some protection!
I’m still a long way to go from financial freedom. That is my goal. I am in the process of learning how to build passive and semi-passive income, and I am loving every minute of it. What’s there to choose? Just buy some kerosene, pour it in your lamp and you are done, right? Well, if we were living in the 19th century then yes, you only had the option of kerosene or coal oil for your lamp. But things have changed and you can now choose from a number of different oils to suit your budget and needs.
If you want to use the lamp in your garden where it will just sit on a table with no one around then you can go for the cheapest option available, Kerosene (aka Paraffin in South Africa and England). Kerosene can be used in almost any kind of lamp. It is cheap and easily available in the market.
However, one of the biggest disadvantages of Kerosene is that it produces a lot of smoke and smell when it burns. Terrestrial oil spills and marine oil spills have a disastrous impact on the ecosystem and biodiversity. Oil spills on land leads to contamination of soil that eventually mixes with the groundwater, making it unfit to consume. Oil spills at sea lead to the rapid spread of oil, which aggregates in the form of emulsified droplets, petroleum lumps, and tar balls. These effects have been observed in open and coastal waters as well as on beaches. The spilled oil forms aggregates that appear to be light gray, brown, or black sticky lumps, and they range in size from 1 millimeter to 10 centimeters.
A Closer Look at Bioremediation
Different types of environmental remediation methods are used to eliminate oil contamination. Based on the site of degradation, the bioremediation technique is classified as in situ or ex situ. An in situ bioremediation method involves the treatment of the polluted area at the site of the oil contamination. On the other hand, ex situ bioremediation involves the removal of contaminated material and its subsequent treatment elsewhere.
The term bioremediation is derived from the root word bio, which refers to life, and remediation, which stands for a remedy or a solution. The process of bioremediation involves the action of microorganisms or biological agents to accelerate the degradation of polluted soil or water. When plants are used to clean up a polluted environment, it is referred to as phytoremediation.
Oil Spill Cleanup Procedures
There are various steps taken to clean up oil spills. Here is how some of them work:
• Bioremediation of oil spills involves microorganisms like bacteria or fungi. These microbes hasten the process of natural degradation.
• Containment of oil spills with booms prevents oil spills from spreading in water. These buoyant materials act as a floating barricade. The use of booms is followed by the use of skimmers. Skimmers are boats that skim spilled oil from the water. Booms and skimmers are not very effective in windy seas and oceans.

Hydraulic Systems
Hydraulic systems can look complex and intimidating, but most are relatively straightforward, consisting of a sump, a pump, hoses, valves and either pistons or hydraulic motors.
Sump – The hydraulic system’s sump responsible for holding the oil, providing time for the transferring of heat, and a place for contaminants, including water, to settle.
Pump – The hydraulic system’s pump produces the fluid flow that creates pressure. In most cases, it is the most expensive part in the system. Hydraulic oils are subjected to pump tests to prove their ability to protect pumps under normal operating conditions. Hydraulic systems can have many different types of pumps, but the three most common are gear, vane and piston pumps. Gear pumps are often found on lower-pressure systems and are relatively simple and reliable. As positive displacement pumps, they pump a fixed amount of fluid for every revolution. Although variations exist, a good example is an automotive oil pump. Vane pumps are common on mobile equipment and can be variable or constant displacement. Piston pumps can be found on higher-pressure applications and are more complex and sensitive to contamination than vane or piston pumps.
Hoses – Hoses carry hydraulic pressure and flow to various components, and are perhaps the weakest link in any hydraulic system. Maintenance is often ignored until a problem develops. Hoses fail due to heat, cold, repeated flexing, physical damage and exposure to the elements.
Valves – Valves control the route of the hydraulic flow within the system, sending flow and pressure to components in order to operate them. Pulling a lever back may route fluid to one side of the hydraulic system, causing it to extend a piston, while pushing it forward may cause it to retract. Varnish presents a major problem with valves, causing them to stick or not allowing them to seal properly.
Pistons/Hydraulic Motors – Pistons and hydraulic motors convert the hydraulic flow and pressure into work. Pistons provide linear motion, allowing bulldozer blades to lift and backhoe buckets to tip, while motors convert hydraulic flow and pressure into rotational force, allowing drills to operate. Common issues associated with pistons and hydraulic motors are internal or external leakage. External leakage results in loss of fluid and possible contamination issues, while internal leakage results in lost efficiency. For example, a bottle jack with its valve only partially closed requires furious pumping to lift an object off the ground and won’t be able to keep it there.
Hydraulic Oil
Zinc containing hydraulic oil is a commonly used hydraulic fluid, while other applications call for zinc free hydraulic oil, motor oil or transmission fluid. Hydrostatic hydraulic oil is required when the fluid must also operate the hydrostatic transmission, biodegradable hydraulic oil is often required in environmentally sensitive areas and some applications require fire resistant hydraulic oils. Each type of hydraulic oil has unique characteristics, and it’s important to understand what’s required for specific applications. The equipment’s operator’s manual will usually recommend viscosities for the ambient temperatures the machine is operated in or could even recommend a specific oil brand. This information can be used to determine the appropriate AMSOIL synthetic hydraulic oil. When in doubt, contact AMSOIL Technical Services at 715-399-TECH (8324).
Hydraulic Oil Problems
Heat and contamination present serious challenges for hydraulic oils. If the system becomes too hot, the oil’s viscosity can thin to the point where the pump is damaged or seals are destroyed. Use the affiliate link from the niche product you selected in Click Bank as your website link. To disguise it you can use Tiny dot CC to change it to something else.
The go to the twitter page of someone famous or someone that is influential in your niche. E.g. Oprah
Then follow their followers like crazy so that they will either follow you or click on your link to read more about you. This part is simple – you just click on their “Followers” link then click “Follow” next to their names. Click, Click, Click.
RT their tweets and add affiliate link into the retweet
Tweet an interesting fact related to your niche with a link to your affiliate link
Reply to people tweets with a relevant comment and a link to your affiliate link
Say something controversial or enticing with a link to your affiliate link. I think you get the picture, any interaction you have on Twitter – include your affiliate link related to that niche.

Sign up using the same username for the niche as you did for Twitter (makes it easy to remember).
Then search for questions that fall into your niche, e.g. “Lose weight”.
Answer their questions and link to your affiliate link Make your answer as natural sounding as possible, don’t make it a sales spiel. E.g. “You know I had this same problem and it was tough, but I found something that seems to work. I only lost 2kgs in the first week, but I’m losing more each day, I weigh in this weekend, so excited I can’t wait ! I used this – try it you never know” – then include your link to how you lost it. And also add your link as a reference.
Answer as many questions as you can in your niche every day.

Sign up for a Facebook account using the same details as Twitter.
Simply search for fan pages that have alot of followers. Famous people work well. Use the top 10 famous people for a list. (Google is your friend). Country names such as “India”, “Nigeria”, “Japan” etc work well too. Fan Pages work better as you don’t have to wait to be accepted. Friends is a waste of time don’t go there.
Simply “Like” the fan page which will allow you to post something on the page wall.
Post an enticing post with a link to the tiny url of your affiliate link.
Don’t do this on too many walls too many times or Facebook will block you. But do choose really famous walls with alot of wall activity – you can see this by the posts on the wall.
Commenting
This one can get annoying if you have to post in forums and get tired of creating new profiles for each forum, however it works very well. However doing just that gets clicks to your affiliate links. Google forums that fall into the niche you chose, then join up and reply on posts. Make it relevant and natural. Then use your link in your signature and as part of your profile. Use an enticing photo for your profile always.
The other highly lucrative place to comment is on relevant blogs in your niche. Don’t copy and paste comments, type something new and natural.
Youtube
Create a profile, same premise as above.
Comment on high traffic videos in that niche. Don’t put the link in your comment, but rather on your profile.
Email
If you don’t mind spamming your friends, then create an email that entices them to go and visit the link, especially if it’s a niche topic that you know they would be interested in.
Encourage forwarding of the email to win a prize (preferably something unused that you own already else you’ll have to fork out some money for it).
Fiverr.com
This method is the by far the easiest and laziest one out there but it’s going to cost you . On Fiverr.com, search for “Social Networking”. You will then get a listing of hundreds of people who will promote anything you want for .
Choose someone that has good feedback and lots of Facebook fans or friends or followers. Pay them via Paypal through the site and allow them to promote your link for you.Once the money starts coming in, you can pay over and over again with different product niches.
